Tools Required

1. Raise and support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.

Important: 

•	Mark the relationship of the wheel to the axle flange in order to ensure proper wheel balance upon assembly.

•	Mark the relationship of the brake drum to the axle flange in order to ensure proper wheel balance upon assembly.

2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
3. Remove the brake drum.

If difficulty is encountered in removing the brake drum, the following steps may be of assistance:

•	Make sure that the park brake is released.

•	Tap gently with a rubber mallet on the outer rim of the drum and/or around the inner drum diameter by the spindle. Do not deform the drum using excessive force.

•	Push the park brake lever off its stop using a screwdriver through the inspection hole (2).

1. Adjust the brakes. Refer to Drum Brake Adjustment .
2. Install the brake drum, aligning to the marks made during removal.
3. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
4. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
