- Visually inspect the TRUNK REL/RFA Fuse.
- Verify that the following grounds are clean and tight:
- Inspect terminal contact before replacing any component.
- Attempt to use a second transmitter if a second transmitter is
available.
- If the second transmitter works, change the batteries in the first
transmitter. Try the first transmitter again.
- Attempt to reprogram the first transmitter.
Replace the first transmitter if the transmitter is still not operational.
- Inspect the following components:
• | The transmitter battery |
• | The battery should be installed with the positive side facing down. |
• | The transmitter terminals |
• | The transmitter terminals should be clean and make proper contact with
the battery. |
- If the condition of the transmitter batteries is in doubt, replace
the batteries. Refer to
Transmitter Battery Replacement
.
Measuring the battery voltage using the J 39200
Digital Multimeter (DMM) may give false results.
- This section provides information for the following procedures:
• | Remote control door lock receiver access |
- Verify that the remote control door lock receiver program connector
terminals have not been jumpered.
Jumpering the terminals leaves the receiver in program mode.
- Verify that CKT 1455 is not shorted to ground.
- Verify that CKT 850 is not open.
- Inspect for a broken (or partially broken) wire inside of the
insulation.
A broken wire inside of the insulation may cause a system failure but
prove GOOD in a continuity/voltage test.
- Inspect for proper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment.
Improper installation of aftermarket electronic equipment may affect
the integrity of other systems.
Important: Continue with Keyless Entry electrical diagnosis only if the following
conditions exist:
• | Both of the door lock switches control the door locks. |
• | The following door lock motors function properly: |
- | The right front door lock motor |
- | The right rear door lock motor |
- | The left rear door lock motor |
• | The rear compartment lid release operates from the rear compartment
lid release switch. |
| The rear compartment lid release switch is located on the IP. |
Refer to the following procedures if the above conditions do not exist:
- Continue the diagnosis as necessary.
