  1. Drive the vehicle above 40 km/h (25 mph).
  2. Depress and release the cruise ON/OFF button.
  3. Depress the cruise control SET/COAST button and then release the button.
  4. Release the accelerator pedal.

The CRUISE indicator lights and the vehicle maintains a set speed.

Cruise Control Inoperative

  1. Depress the cruise control RES/ACCEL switch and hold the switch until the vehicle speed increases by 6.4-8.0 km/h (4-5 mph).
  2. Release the cruise control RESUME/ACCEL switch.

The vehicle accelerates and maintains the new higher set speed.

Does Not Resume, Accelerate, or Tap Up or Down

  1. Depress the cruise control SET/COAST switch and hold the switch in position until the vehicle speed decreases by 6.4-8.0 km/h (4-5 mph).
  2. Release the cruise control SET/COAST switch.

The vehicle decelerates and maintains the new lower speed when the speed is above 40 km/h (25 mph).

Does Not Resume, Accelerate, or Tap Up or Down

Depress the cruise ON/OFF button (Pontiac) or depress the cruise CANCEL switch (Oldsmobile).

The cruise control disengages. (The memory is unchanged)

Press the brake pedal lightly.

Depress the cruise control RESUME/ACCEL button.

Press and quickly release the cruise control switch RESUME/ACCEL button once (tap-up).

The vehicle speed increases by approximately 1.6 km/h (1 mph) and maintains the new set speed.

Press and quickly release the cruise control SET/COAST button once (tap-down).

The vehicle speed decreases by approximately 1.6 km/h (1 mph) and maintains the new set speed.
