Important: A short to ground will cause an open fuse(s). Before performing this diagnostic procedure, inspect the fuse(s) for an open.

  1. Disconnect the cruise control module connector.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the ON position.
  3. Place the cruise control switch to the ON position.
  4. Hold the cruise control switch in the RESUME/ACCEL position.
  5. Use the J 39200 to measure the voltage between terminal C of the cruise control module connector and ground.

Is the voltage measured to the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 2

Replace the cruise control module. Refer to Cruise Control Module Replacement

Is the repair complete?

Go to Cruise Control System Check

  1. Hold the cruise control switch in the RESUME/ACCEL position.
  2. Use the J 39200 to backprobe the SIR coil assembly.
  3. Measure the voltage between terminal C of connector C2 and ground.

Is the voltage measured to the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 4

Go to Step 5

Repair the open in CKT 87 between the SIR coil assembly and the cruise control module. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Cruise Control System Check

  1. Hold the cruise control switch in the RESUME/ACCEL position.
  2. Use the J 39200 to backprobe the SIR coil assembly.
  3. Measure the voltage between terminal C of connector C1 and ground.

Is the voltage measured to the specified value?

B+

Go to Step 6

Go to Step 7

Replace the SIR coil assembly. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Replacement
