  1. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe connector C3 of the left IP wiring harness junction block between terminal A9 and ground.
  2. Press and hold the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. With the parking brake ON, move the gear selector to any position except the PARK position or the NEUTRAL position.
  2. Use the J 39200 Digital Multimeter (DMM) in order to backprobe connector C1 of the left IP wiring harness junction block between terminal F3 and ground.
  3. Press and hold the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the voltage measure within the specified range?

B+

  1. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the remote control door lock receiver between terminal H and ground.
  2. Press and hold the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Disconnect the rear compartment lid release motor connector.
  2. Connect a test lamp between terminal C of the rear compartment lid release motor connector and ground.
  3. Press and hold the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Disconnect connector C1 of the transaxle range switch.
  2. Use the J 39200 in order to measure the voltage between terminal A of transaxle range switch connector C1 and ground.
  3. Press and hold the rear compartment lid release switch.

Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the left IP wiring harness junction block between terminal C3 of connector C1 and ground.

  1. Disconnect the remoter control door lock receiver connector.
  2. Connect a fused jumper between terminal G and terminal H of the remote control door lock receiver connector.
  3. Press and hold the rear compartment lid release switch.

Repair the open in CKT 382, between the left IP wiring harness junction block and the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open in CKT 56, between the left IP wiring harness junction block and the rear compartment lid release motor. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Use the J 39200 DMM in order to measure the resistance between terminal D of transaxle range switch connector C1 and ground.

Does the resistance measure within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

Repair the open in CKT 1737, between the left IP wiring harness junction block and the transaxle range switch. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

  1. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the left IP wiring harness junction block between terminal D4 of connector C1 and ground.
  2. Press and hold the rear compartment lid release switch.

Does the test lamp light?

  1. Reconnect the remote control door lock receiver connector.
  2. Disconnect the rear compartment lid release motor connector.
  3. Connect a test lamp between terminal C of the rear compartment lid release motor connector and ground.
  4. Press and hold the rear compartment lid release switch.

  1. Connect a fused jumper between terminal A and terminal D of transaxle range switch connector C1.
  2. Press the rear compartment lid release switch.

  1. Inspect the adjustment of the Park Neutral Position Switch.
  2. If OK, replace the Park Neutral Position Switch refer to Park/Neutral Position Switch Replacement in Automatic Transaxle.

  1. Reconnect the transaxle range switch connector C1 (from Step 16 only).
  2. Exchange the rear compartment lid release relay with a known good relay from the underhood wiring harness junction block.
  3. Verify that the transaxle is in the PARK or the NEUTRAL position.
  4. Press and hold the rear compartment lid release switch.

  1. Use a test lamp in order to backprobe the rear compartment lid release switch between terminal A and ground.
