Removal Procedure

Important: For the removal of the rear door assembly, perform steps 13 through 19.

  1. Open and support the rear door.
  2. Open the front door.
  3. Remove the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  4. Remove the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  5. Remove the inside handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Inside Handle Replacement .
  6. Remove the window regulator. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Regulator Replacement .
  7. Remove the outside door handle. Refer to Door Outside Handle Replacement .
  8. Remove the door lock. Refer to Rear Door Lock Replacement .
  9. Remove the door window. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Replacement .
  10. Remove the rear stationary window. Refer to Rear Side Door Stationary Window Replacement .
  11. Remove the rear door reveal molding. Refer to Rear Side Door Stationary Window Replacement .

  12. Object Number: 459522  Size: SH
  13. Remove the rear door electrical harness through the opening in the rear door.
  14. Using a grease pencil, mark the location of the rear door hinges to the rear door.
  15. Remove the rubber conduit from the center pillar.
  16. Disconnect the rear door harness electrical connector.
  17. Route the rear door harness electrical connector through the opening in the center pillar.

  19. Remove the check link bolt (1).
  20. With an assistant, remove the rear door hinge to rear door bolts.

  22. With an assistant, remove the rear door from the vehicle.

Installation Procedure

Important: For the installation of the rear door assembly, perform steps 1 through 6 only.

  1. With an assistant, position the rear door to the hinges.
  2. With an assistant, align the hinges to the marks on the rear door.
  3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  4. With an assistant, install the rear door hinge to rear door bolts.
  5. Tighten
    Tighten the rear door hinge bolts to 26 N·m (19 lb ft).

  6. Route the rear door electrical harness connector through the opening in the center pillar.
  7. Install the rubber conduit to the center pillar.
  8. Connect the rear door electrical harness connector.
  9. Install the rear door electrical harness through the opening in the rear door.
  10. Install the rear door reveal molding. Refer to Rear Side Door Stationary Window Replacement .
  11. Install the rear stationary window. Refer to Rear Side Door Stationary Window Replacement .
  12. Install the door window. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Replacement .
  13. Install the door lock. Refer to Rear Door Lock Replacement .
  14. Install the outside door handle. Refer to Door Outside Handle Replacement .
  15. Install the window regulator. Refer to Rear Side Door Window Regulator Replacement .
  16. Install the inside handle. Refer to Rear Side Door Inside Handle Replacement .
  17. Install the water deflector. Refer to Rear Side Door Water Deflector Replacement .
  18. Install the door trim panel. Refer to Rear Side Door Trim Panel Replacement .
  19. Carefully close the door. Inspect the door for proper alignment.
