Headlining Trim Panel Replacement Extended Sedan
Removal Procedure
Caution: Do not attempt to repair or alter the head impact energy-absorbing material
glued to the headliner or to the garnish trims. If the material is damaged, replace
the headliner and/or the garnish trim. Failure to do so could result in personal injury.
Notice: Use care when working around the head curtain inflator module. Sharp tools may
puncture the curtain airbag. If the head curtain inflator module is damaged in any
way, it must be replaced.
Notice: If a vehicle is equipped with a head curtain inflator module ensure
that the inflator module and tether are undamaged. If tether or curtain airbag are
damaged in any way, they must be replaced.
- Disable the roof rail SIR system, if equipped. Refer to
SIR Disabling and Enabling
.
- Remove the windshield garnish moldings. Refer to
Windshield Pillar Garnish Molding Replacement
.
- Remove the sunshades. Refer to
Sunshade Replacement
and
Sunroof Rear Sunshade Replacement
.
- Remove the sunshade supports. Refer to
Sunshade Retainer Bezel Replacement
.
- Remove the garnish moldings from the upper center pillar. Refer to
Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement
.
- Remove the upper panels from the rear quarter trim. Refer to
Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the lower rear quarter trim panels. Refer to
Quarter Lower Rear Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Remove the assist handles. Refer to
Assist Handle Replacement
.
- Remove the rear fasteners from the headliner.
- Move the front seats full forward.
- Recline the front seats.
- Fold the rear seatback down.
- Remove the fastener from the body wiring junction block by releasing the tab. Slide the junction block towards the rear of the vehicle and pull out.
- Remove the headliner wiring harness from the rear junction block.
- Remove the headliner harness from the rear quarter panel.
- Remove the sunroof lace from the vehicle, if equipped.
- Lower the headliner through the roof of the vehicle.
- Disconnect the sunroof electrical connector, if equipped.
- Disconnect the rearview mirror electrical connector.
- Remove the headliner from the vehicle through the liftgate opening.
Installation Procedure
- If installing a new headliner, transfer the dome lamp and the console to the new headliner.
- Install the headliner to the vehicle through the liftgate opening.
- Connect the rearview mirror electrical connector.
- Connect the sunroof electrical connector.
- Install the sunroof lace.
- Install the headliner wiring to the rear quarter panel.
- Install the headliner wiring harness to the rear body wiring junction block.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the rear junction block to the vehicle and secure with the fastener.
Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).
- Place the front and the rear seats in an upright position.
- Install the rear fasteners to the headliner.
- Install the assist handles. Refer to

- Install the lower rear quarter trim panels. Refer to
Quarter Lower Rear Trim Panel Replacement

- Install the upper panels to the rear quarter trim. Refer to
Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Install the garnish moldings to the upper center pillar. Refer to
Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement

- Install the sunshade supports. Refer to
Sunshade Retainer Bezel Replacement
.
- Install the sunshades. Refer to

Sunroof Rear Sunshade Replacement

- Remove the upper panels from the rear quarter trim. Refer to

- Remove the assist handles. Refer to

- Disconnect the sunroof motor electrical connector, if equipped.
- Remove the rear fasteners from the headliner.
- Remove the front passenger seat. Refer to
Front Seat Replacement - Bucket
in Seats.
- Move the driver seat full forward.
- Recline the driver seat.
- Remove the rear seat bolster assembly. Refer to
Rear Split Folding Seat Back Bolster Replacement
in Seats.
- Remove the rear body trim panel. Refer to
Rear Compartment Trim Panel Replacement
in Body Rear End.
- Remove the fastener from the body wiring junction block. Slide the junction block towards the rear of the vehicle and pull out.
- Remove the headliner wiring harness from the rear junction block.
- Pass the headliner wiring harness through the access hole behind the rear seat.
- Remove the headliner wire harness from the rear quarter panel.
- Remove the headliner from the vehicle through the rear passenger door.
Installation Procedure
- If installing a new headliner, transfer the dome lamp and the console to the new headliner.
- Install the headliner to the vehicle through the rear passenger door.
- Attach the headliner wire harness to the rear quarter panel.
- Route the headliner wiring harness through the access hole behind the rear seat.
- Install the headliner wiring harness to the rear body wiring junction block.
Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.
- Install the rear junction block to the vehicle and secure with the fastener.
Tighten
Tighten the fastener to 2.5 N·m (22 lb in).
- Install the rear body trim panel. Refer to

- Install the rear seat bolster assembly. Refer to
Rear Split Folding Seat Back Bolster Replacement
in Seats.
- Place the driver seat in an upright position.
- Install the front passenger seat. Refer to

- Install the rear fasteners to the headliner.
- Connect the sunroof motor electrical connector.
- Install the assist handles. Refer to

- On the extended sedan, install the lower rear quarter trim panels. Refer to
Quarter Lower Rear Trim Panel Replacement
.
- Install the upper panels to the rear quarter trim. Refer to
Quarter Upper Trim Panel Replacement

- Install the garnish moldings to the upper center pillar. Refer to
Center Pillar Upper Garnish Molding Replacement

- Install the sunshade supports. Refer to
Sunshade Retainer Bezel Replacement

- Install the sunshades. Refer to
