Makes 🢒 Chevrolet 🢒 1998 🢒 Monte Carlo 🢒 Engine 🢒 Engine Electrical 🢒 Accessory Wiring Junction Block Replacement

Removal Procedure
  1. Open the hood.
  2. Disconnect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  3. Disconnect the positive and/or ground battery cable as required from the junction block(s). Refer to Battery Cable in Engine Electrical.
  4. Remove the front end sheet metal diagonal brace(s). Refer to Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Replacement .

  5. Remove the push-in retainer from the right junction block at the upper core support rail.
  6. Remove the bolt from the right junction block.
  7. Reposition the right junction block.

    8. Object Number: 552686 Size: SH
  8. Remove the nuts from the left junction block.
  9. Reposition the left junction block from the left strut tower.

Installation Procedure

    Object Number: 552686 Size: SH
  1. Position the left junction block to the left strut tower.

    2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  2. Install the nuts to the left junction block.

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to the left junction block to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  3. Position the right junction block to the right fender apron and upper core support rail.
  4. Install the push-in retainer to the right junction block at the upper core support rail.
  5. Install the bolt to the right junction block.

    6. Tighten
    Tighten the nuts to the left junction block to 10 N·m (89 lb in).

  6. Connect the positive and/or ground battery cable as required from the junction Block(s). Refer to Battery Cable in Engine Electrical.
  7. Connect the battery ground (negative) cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  8. Install the front end sheet metal diagonal brace(s). Refer to Front End Sheet Metal Diagonal Brace Replacement .
  9. Close the hood.
