Problem

Action

A burr on the lock bolt

Inspect the component. Replace the component as necessary.

Refer to Steering Column Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .

A restricted actuator rod

Inspect the rod. Service the rod as necessary.

Refer to Steering Column Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .

Damage to one of the following components:

    • The lock cylinder
    • The housing
    • The steering shaft
    • The rack
    • The park lock cable

Inspect the components. Replace the components as necessary.

A stuck ignition switch

Inspect the switch. Replace the components as necessary.

An interference between the bowl and the rack coupling

Inspect the components. Service the components as necessary.

Refer to Steering Column Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle or Steering Column Jacket - Disassemble - Off Vehicle .

An improperly adjusted shift linkage

Inspect the linkage. Service the linkage as necessary.

Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement .

A broken or worn lock bolt spring

Inspect the spring. Replace the spring as necessary.

An improperly installed steering shaft

Inspect the installation. Service the components as necessary.
