Lock Housing Assembly - Assemble - Off Vehicle Floor Shift

Assembly Procedure


    Object Number: 387397  Size: SH
  1. Install the lock housing cover and sleeve assembly (2) to the steering column housing assembly (1).

  2. Object Number: 343832  Size: SH

    Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the 3 pan head 6 - lobed socket tapping screws (1) following these steps:
  4. 2.1. Tighten the screw (1) in the 12 o'clock position first.
    2.2. Tighten the screw (1) in the 8 o'clock position second.
    2.3. Tighten the screw (1) in the 3 o'clock position third.

    Tighten
    Using the order above, tighten the 3 pan head 6 - lobed socket tapping screws to 9 N·m (80 lb in).

  5. Install the wire protector shield to the lock housing cover and sleeve assembly.
  6. Install the steering column lock cylinder set. Refer to Steering Column Lock Cylinder Set - Assemble - Off Vehicle .
