| Turn
the ignition switch from the LOCK position to the START position.
For Special Equipment Option (SEO) equipped vehicles (RPO 9C3,
9C6), go directly to step 5.

- The engine starts.
- The SECURITY indicator turns ON for 5 seconds and then
turns OFF.
|

|
- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Disconnect the key detection CKT 2-way connector
at the base of the steering column.
- Connect the male and the female parts to the mating connectors
on the pigtails from the J 35628-A
.
- Insert the ignition key into the key code reader on the J 35628-A
.
- Turn on the J 35628-A
.
- A number from 1 to 15 will appear on the display of the J 35628-A
.
• | A number indicates the electrical code of the key. |
• | The letter E indicates an error. |
- Set the key code selector on the J 35628-A
.
- Turn the ignition switch to the START position.

- The engine will not crank.
- The SECURITY indicator turns ON.

|
- Less than 3 minutes after you complete Step 2, turn
the ignition switch to the OFF position.
- Disconnect the J 35628-A
.
- Reconnect the key detection CKT 2-way connector (CKT 1073
and CKT 1074) at the base of the steering column.
- Turn the ignition switch to the START position.

- The engine does not crank.
- The SECURITY indicator turns ON.

- Turn the ignition switch to the LOCK position.
- Wait 3-4 minutes.
- Turn the ignition switch to the START position.
|
- The engine cranks and starts.
- The SECURITY indicator turns ON for 5 seconds and then
turns OFF.

| Complete
the following steps for SEO equipped vehicles only:
- Use a test light to probe between the Data Link Connector (DLC)
terminals 8 and 16.
- Turn the ignition switch from the OFF position to the START position.

- The engine starts.
- The test light flashes.
