Transmission Control Replacement new

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove horseshoe clip from front of shift control knob, and remove knob.

  2. Object Number: 289503  Size: SH
  3. Remove the console. Refer to Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.

  4. Object Number: 161197  Size: SH
  5. Remove the console wiring harness.

  6. Object Number: 161196  Size: SH
  7. Remove the console shift control wiring harness.
  8. Remove the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement .
  9. Remove the park/lock cable. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement .

  10. Object Number: 161189  Size: SH
  11. Remove the console shift control nuts.
  12. Remove the console shift control.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 161189  Size: SH
  1. Install the console shift control.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the console shift control nuts.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the console shift control nuts to 24 N·m (18 lb ft).

  5. Install the park/lock cable. Refer to Park Lock Cable Replacement .
  6. Install the automatic transaxle range selector cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement .

  8. Install the console shift control wiring harness.

  9. Object Number: 161197  Size: SH
  10. Install the console wiring harness.
  11. Install the console. Refer to Refer to Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  12. Adjust the transaxle range selector cable. Refer to Range Selector Lever Cable Replacement and/or Range Selector Lever Cable Adjustment .
