Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 1290862  Size: SH
  1. Remove the rear strut assembly from the vehicle. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement.
  2. Mount the rear strut assembly into the J 45400 or the KM-329-A  (1). Ensure that the hooks are properly seated.

  3. Object Number: 1290863  Size: SH
  4. Compress the spring.
  5. Remove the lock nut from the strut dampener rod using the J 42468 .

  6. Object Number: 1290864  Size: SH
  7. Remove the rear strut mount.
  8. Remove the rear spring upper seat, the dust cover, and the hollow bumper.
  9. Release the spring.
  10. Remove the rear spring and the rear spring lower seat.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 1290864  Size: SH
  1. Install the rear spring lower seat and the rear spring.
  2. Compress the spring.
  3. Install the hollow bumper, the dust cover, and the rear spring upper seat.
  4. Install the rear strut mount.
  5. Caution: Refer to Fastener Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1290863  Size: SH
  6. Install the lock nut onto the strut dampener rod, using the J 42468 and tighten.
  7. • ball joint-to-control arm nuts to 100 N·m (74 lb ft)
    • strut dampener-to-strut mount nut to 75 N·m (55 lb ft)
  8. Release the spring.
  9. Remove the strut assembly from the spring compressor and install the strut assembly into the vehicle. Refer to Strut Assembly Replacement.
