  1. Run the engine until operating temperature is reached and the thermostat opens.
  2. Stop the engine.
  3. Disconnect the fan motor connector.
  4. Connect a test lamp across the fan motor connector.
  5. Start the engine.

Does the test lamp light?

Test the fan control switch. The fan control switch should be closed below 83°C (181°F) and open above 93°C (199°F).
