Inspect for the following conditions:

    • Correct battery installation
    • Correct battery terminal installation
    • Correct battery cable installation
    • Clean and tight ground connections
    • Excessive battery terminal corrosion
    • Cracking or other damage
    • Correct battery voltage
    • The battery hydrometer displays a green dot
    • The generator wiring for damage or poor connections
    • Correctly torqued generator mounting bolts
    • Correct drive belt installation
    • The battery is installed correctly.
    • The battery terminals are installed correctly.
    • The battery cables are installed correctly.
    • The ground connections are clean and tight.
    • The battery terminals are clean and tight.
    • The battery is not physically damaged.
    • Battery voltage is approximately 11.5-13.0 volts.
    • The battery hydrometer displays a green dot.
    • The wiring is in serviceable condition.
    • The generator is mounted correctly.
    • The drive belt is installed correctly.
    •  Battery Load Test
    •  Generator Noise Test
    •  Battery Charging
    • Clean, tighten or repair the wiring and connections as necessary. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.
    •  Battery Check
    •  Battery Terminal Check
    •  Generator Replacement
    •  Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical

Turn the ignition switch to the key ON position.

The charge indicator lamp lights.

Start the engine.

The charge indicator lamp goes out after the engine starts.
