  1. Turn ignition ON.
  2. Depress and release the CRUISE ON OFF button.

Does the cruise indicator lamp light?

Test for an open ECU-IG fuse in junction block 2 located behind the storage box cover on the left hand side of the instrument panel.

Is the fuse open?

--

  1. Turn ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the cruise control module connector. Refer to Cruise Control Module Replacement .
  3. Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between terminal 9 of the cruise control module connector and ground.

Is the resistance equal to the specified value?

Infinite

Go to Step 6

Repair the short to ground in the BLK/YEL wire between terminal 9 of the cruise control module connector and terminal 8 on connector C4 of junction block 2.

Is the repair complete?

--

Go to Step 44

  1. Replace the ECU-IG fuse in junction block 2.
  2. Reconnect the cruise control module connector.
  3. Turn ignition switch to ON.
  4. Depress and release the CRUISE ON OFF switch.

Does the new fuse open?

--

  1. Turn ignition OFF.
  2. Disconnect the cruise control module connector. Refer to Cruise Control Module Replacement .
  3. Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between terminal 16 of the cruise control module connector and ground.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

  1. Turn ignition ON.
  2. Connect a J 39200 set to measure voltage between the cruise control module connector terminal 9 and ground.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Repair the open between the cruise control module connector terminal 9 (BLK/YEL) and connector C4 terminal 8 of the junction block 2.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Turn ignition switch to OFF.
  2. Disconnect the cruise control module connector.
  3. Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between cruise control module connector terminal 11 and ground.
  4. Depress and hold the cruise control ON OFF button.

Is the resistance reading within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

  1. Disconnect connector C1 of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil. Refer to Inflatable Restraint Steering Wheel Module Coil Replacement in SIR.
  2. Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between terminal 5 of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil connector and terminal 11 of the cruise control module connector.

Is the resistance reading within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

Repair open between terminal 5 of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil and the WHT/BLU wire of terminal 11 of the cruise control module.

Is the repair complete?

With the cruise control connector C2 disconnected.

  1. Connect the J 39200 set to measure resistance between the WHT/BLK wire of terminal 3 and the WHT wire of terminal 5 of connector C2.
  2. Depress and hold the cruise control button.

Is the resistance reading within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

  1. Inspect the cruise control switch for poor connection.
  2. Replace the cruise control switch. Refer to Cruise Control Switch Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

With the cruise control switch connector C2 disconnected.

Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between terminal 3 of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil and ground.

Is the resistance reading within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

  1. Disconnect connector C1 of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module.
  2. Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between terminal 3 of connector C2 and terminal 3 of connector C1.

Is the resistance reading within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

Repair open between terminal 3 of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil and ground.

  1. Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between terminal 10 of the cruise control module connector and ground.
  2. Pull the cruise control switch toward the CANCEL position and hold.

Is the resistance reading within the specified range?

400-440 ohms

  1. Disconnect the cruise control switch connector.
  2. Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between terminal 3 and terminal 4 of the cruise control switch.
  3. Pull the cruise control switch toward the CANCEL position and hold.

Is the resistance reading within the specified range?

400-440 ohms

With the cruise control switch still disconnected.

  1. Disconnect the cruise control module connector.
  2. Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between terminal 10 of the cruise control module connector and terminal 4 of the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

Repair the open between the inflatable restraint steering wheel module coil and the GRN/BLK wire of terminal 10 of the cruise control module connector.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Disconnect the cruise control module connector.
  2. Turn ignition to ON.
  3. Connect a J 39200 set to measure voltage between terminal 3 of the cruise control module connector and ground.
  4. If the vehicle has an automatic transmission, move the shift lever to the D position.

Is the voltage within the specified range?

10-15 V

Repair the open between terminal 3 (BLU/BLK) wire of the cruise control module connector and B+.

  1. Disconnect the cruise control module connector.
  2. Connect a J 39200 set to measure voltage between terminal 2 of the cruise control module connector and ground.

Is the voltage equal to the specified value?

  1. Disconnect the cruise control module connector.

Is the resistance reading within the specified range?

  1. Disconnect the stoplamp switch connector.
  2. Connect the J 39200 between terminal 3 of the stoplamp switch connector and terminal 8 of the cruise control module connector.

Is the resistance reading within the specified range?

Repair the open in the GRN/BLK wire between terminal 3 of the stoplamp switch and terminal 8 of the cruise control module.

With the stoplamp switch still disconnected. Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between Terminal 3 and terminal 4 of the stoplamp switch.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

  1. Disconnect the cruise control servo connector.
  2. Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between the terminal 3 of the cruise control servo connector and terminal 4 of the stoplamp switch.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

Repair the open in the RED/YEL wire between terminal 3 of the cruise control servo connector and terminal 4 of the stoplamp switch connector.

  2. Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between terminlal 3 and terminal 4 of the cruise control servo.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

30-50 ohms

With the cruise control servo connector still disconnected.

  1. Connect the POSITIVE lead of a J 39200 to terminal 1 of the cruise control servo.
  2. Connect the NEGATIVE lead of a J 39200 to terminal 2 of the cruise control servo.
  3. Set the J 39200 to meaure resistance.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

  1. Disconnect Connector C2 of the instrument cluster assembly.
  2. Connect a J 39200 set to measure resistance between terminal 9 of C2 of the instrument cluster assembly and terminal 12 of the cruise control module connector.

Is the resistance within the specified range?

0-2 ohms

Repair the open between the PPL/WHT wire of connector C2 terminal 9 of the instrument cluster assembly and terminal 12 of the cruise control module connector.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Inspect the cruise control servo connector for poor terminal contact.
  2. If OK, replace the cruise control servo. Refer to Cruise Control Servo Replacement .

Is the replacement complete?

  1. Inspect the cruise control module connector for poor terminal contact.
  2. If OK, replace the cruise control module. Refer to Cruise Control Module Replacement .
