Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - HVAC Systems - Manual

2

  1. Start the engine.
  2. Open the instrument panel compartment.
  3. Observe the air inlet actuator while pressing the air inlet switch to the recirculate position.

Does the air inlet actuator operate?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

3

  1. Remove the instrument panel compartment. Refer to Instrument Panel Compartment Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gauges and Console.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire between terminal 5 of C224 and B+.
  3. Connect a fused jumper wire between terminal 4 of C224 and ground.
  4. Connect a fused jumper wire between terminal 1 of C224 and ground.
  5. When the ground is removed from terminal 1 the actuator should rotate counterclockwise to the recirculate position. When the ground is applied to terminal 1 the actuator shaft should rotate clockwise to the fresh position.

Does the air inlet actuator operate correctly?
