Schematic Reference: Keyless Entry Schematics

Did you review the Keyless Entry System Description and Operation and perform the necessary inspections?

Go to Step  2

Operate the key fob(s) to LOCK and UNLOCK the doors.

Do the doors LOCK and UNLOCK normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step  3

Reprogram the RKE module. Refer to Transmitter Programming .

Does the RKE system respond properly?

Go to Step  12

  1. Disconnect the remote control door lock receiver connector which is located behind the LH instrument panel, above junction block 1. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement in Keyless Entry.
  2. Test for a short to ground between cavity 8 of the RKE module connector and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step  12

  1. Turn ON the ignition with the engine OFF.
  2. Connect a test lamp between cavity 13 of the connector and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step  6

Test for a short to ground between cavity 1 of the connector and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step  12

  1. Remove the ignition key from the ignition switch.
  2. Test for a short to ground between cavity 10 of the connector and ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test for a high resistance or an open between cavity 14 of the RKE module connector and SP261. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Repair the open between terminal 13 of the RKE module connector and terminal 2 of connector C4 of the junction block 2. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  12

Replace the remote control door lock receiver. Refer to Remote Control Door Lock Receiver Replacement .

Is the repair complete?

Go to Step  12

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
