Removal Procedure
- Disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System in SIR.
- Remove the body hinge pillar trim panels. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement .
- Remove all 4 side door sill trim plates. Refer to Door Sill Plate Replacement .
- Remove the center pillar lower trim panels. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement .
- Remove the front floor rear console. Refer to Rear Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
- Remove the front seats. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket in Seats.
- Remove the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
- Remove the 2 plastic retainers (1) which secure the rear of the floor panel carpet.
- Remove the front seat belt (1) lower anchor bolt from each side of the vehicle.
- Remove the floor carpet retainers (1) from each door opening.
- Remove the plastic retainer (3) which secures the floor panel carpet to the each side of the bulkhead.
- Remove the 2 plastic retainers (2) which secure the floor panel carpet to each of the I/P center support braces (1).
- Remove the footrest. Refer to Foot Rest Replacement .
- Remove the floor mats from the vehicle, if equipped.
- Remove the floor panel carpet from the vehicle.
Caution: This vehicle is equipped with a Supplemental Inflatable Restraint (SIR) System. Failure to follow the correct procedure could cause the following conditions:
• Air bag deployment • Personal injury • Unnecessary SIR system repairs • Refer to SIR Component Views in order to determine if you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring. • If you are performing service on or near the SIR components or the SIR wiring, disable the SIR system. Refer to Disabling the SIR System.
Installation Procedure
- Install the floor panel carpet to the vehicle.
- Install the footrest. Refer to Foot Rest Replacement .
- Install the floor panel carpet to the I/P center support braces (1). Secure the carpet with the 2 plastic retainers (2) to each brace.
- Install the plastic retainer (3) which secures the carpet to each side of the bulkhead.
- Install the floor carpet retainers (1) to each door opening.
- Install each of the front seat belt (1) lower anchor bolts to the floor.
- Install the 2 plastic retainers (1) which secure the rear of the floor panel carpet.
- Install the rear seat cushion. Refer to Rear Seat Cushion Replacement in Seats.
- Install the front seats. Refer to Front Seat Replacement - Bucket in Seats.
- Install the front floor rear console. Refer to Rear Floor Console Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
- Install the center pillar lower trim panels. Refer to Center Pillar Lower Trim Panel Replacement .
- Install all 4 side door sill trim plates (1) to the vehicle.
- Install the body hinge pillar trim panels. Refer to Body Hinge Pillar Trim Panel Replacement .
- Install the floor mats to the floor, if equipped.
- Enable the SIR system. Refer to Enabling the SIR System in SIR.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the front seat belt lower anchor bolts to 42 N·m
(31 lb in).
