Removal Procedure
- Remove the rear seat bottom and seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
- Disconnect the electrical connector (1) from the wheel speed sensor.
- Raise and suitably support the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
- Pull the pigtail harness (1) for the wheel speed sensor out through the body. Remove the grommet (2).
- Remove the bolt which retains the wheel speed sensor pigtail harness (1) to the vehicle.
- Remove the wheel speed sensor retaining bolt (2) and remove the wheel speed sensor (1) from suspension knuckle.
Important: The wheel speed sensor is serviceable only as an assembly. Do NOT attempt to service the sensor harness pigtail.
Installation Procedure
- Install the wheel speed sensor (2) to steering knuckle (1).
- Install the pigtail harness (1) for the rear wheel speed sensor to the vehicle. Secure with 2 nuts and 2 clips.
- Reposition the wheel speed pigtail harness (1) through the body. Install the grommet (2).
- Lower the vehicle.
- Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector (1).
- Install the rear seat bottom and seat back. Refer to Rear Seat Back Replacement in Seats.
- Perform Diagnostic System Check - ABS .
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the rear wheel speed sensor bolt to 8 N·m (69 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the nuts to 5 N·m (48 lb in).
