Was the IPC Diagnostic System Check performed?

  1. Ensure that the engine oil level is correct.
  2. Ensure that the engine develops adequate oil pressure. Refer to Oil Pressure Diagnosis and Testing in Engine Mechanical - 2.2L or Oil Pressure Diagnosis and Testing in Engine Mechanical - 4.3L.
  3. Remove the connector from the fuel pump oil pressure switch.
  4. Connect a variable 100 ohms resistor between the fuel pump oil pressure switch connector terminal A and the ground.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  6. Turn the variable resistance (potentiometer) back and forth for maximum to minimum resistance.

Does the oil pressure gauge operate normally?

0 ohms (no oil pressure)

88 ohms (maximum oil pressure)

Go to Step 3

  1. Replace the fuel pump oil pressure switch.
  2. Reconnect the fuel pump oil pressure switch connector.

Is the repair complete?

Test the continuity on CKT 331 (TAN/WHT) between the IPC connector cavity A2 and the fuel pump oil pressure switch connector cavity A.

Is the connection OK?

Go to Step 6

Repair the wire.

Is the repair complete?
