DEFINITION: The CARGO COVER AJAR message is not displayed on the driver information center (DIC) when the rear compartment lid is not completely closed.

Did you perform the Body Rear End Diagnostic System Check?

Go to Step 2

  1. Open the rear compartment lid.
  2. Turn the ignition ON, with the engine OFF.
  3. Observe the DIC.

Does the DIC display the Cargo Cover Ajar Message?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

Disconnect the rear compartment lid ajar switch.

Does the DIC display the Cargo Cover Ajar Message?

Go to Step 5

Test the signal circuit of the rear compartment lid ajar switch for a short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 9

Inspect for poor connections at the rear compartment lid ajar switch harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the roof and door module (RDM) harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the rear compartment lid ajar switch. Refer to Rear Compartment Lid Latch Replacement .

Replace the RDM. Refer to Folding Top Control Module Replacement in Roof.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
