The window position sensors receive a battery voltage reference and a constant ground source. These sensors also provide window position information to the RDM through two signal circuits.
• | Battery voltage between 9-16 volts |
• | The window must be active in the up or down direction |
The DTC will set when any of the following conditions has occurred:
• | An open, short to ground or battery in the window sensor signal circuits |
• | The window sensor battery voltage reference circuit is open. |
• | The window sensor low reference circuit has failed. |
• | The RDM will not allow the window indexing, express down or supervised window functions for the affected window. |
• | The affected window will start and stall with each up or down switch activation. |
• | When the fault is no longer present, the RDM will keep the DTC current until the window has been relearned and an indexing function has occurred. Then the current DTC will change to a history DTC. |
• | The RDM will clear the history DTC after 50 fault free ignition cycles. |
• | A current or history DTC can also be cleared using a scan tool. |
If both DTCs B1533 and B3992 are set as current, the most likely cause is an open in the window sensor battery voltage reference circuit.
