Go to Diagnostic System Check - Vehicle

2

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Watch the outside temperature gage on the auxiliary gage package

Does the temperature displayed on the temperature gage match the current room temperature?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Go to Step 3

3

  1. Disconnect the ambient air temperature sensor.
  2. Install a scan tool.
  3. Important: Verify the J 33431-C Signal Generator and Instrument Panel Tester resistance settings with a DMM.

  4. Connect the J 33431-C between the signal circuit of the ambient air temperature sensor and the ground circuit of the ambient air temperature sensor.
  5. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  6. Vary the resistance on the J 33431-C from 1000-80,000 ohms.
  7. Observe the Ambient Air Temp. Sensor parameter in the roof and door module Data 1 data list.

Does the Ambient Air Temp. Sensor parameter change value with change in resistance?
