CH 46566 Rear Wheel Bearing Race Installer

Disassembly Procedure

  1. Remove the rear brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement in Drum Brakes.

  2. Object Number: 1221000  Size: SH
  3. Remove the outer tapered roller bearing (1).

  4. Object Number: 1221004  Size: SH
  5. Remove the oil seal (1).
  6. Remove the inner tapered roller bearing (2).

  7. Object Number: 1221010  Size: SH
  8. Remove the inner bearing race from the brake drum (1).

  9. Object Number: 1221012  Size: SH
  10. Remove the outer bearing race from the brake drum (1).

Assembly Procedure


    Object Number: 1221015  Size: SH

    Important: Use a new bearing.

  1. Press the inner bearing race into the brake drum using J 8092  (1) and CH 46566  (3).

  2. Object Number: 1221018  Size: SH
  3. Press the outer bearing race into the brake drum using J 8092  (1) and CH 46566  (3).
  4. Apply wheel bearing lubricant to the wheel bearing and to the ring seal lip.

  5. Object Number: 1221025  Size: SH
  6. Install the inner wheel bearing (2) into the brake drum.
  7. Install the oil seal (1) into the brake drum.

  8. Object Number: 1221028  Size: SH
  9. Install the outer wheel bearing (1) into the brake drum.
  10. Install the brake drum. Refer to Brake Drum Replacement in Rear Drum Brakes.
  11. Inspect the end play and free load of the bearing. Refer to Bearings Inspection .
  12. Lower the vehicle.
