Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1221176 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the instrument panel assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement .
  3. Remove the screws (1) from the defroster duct hose (2).
  4. Remove the defroster duct hose from the tie-bar.

  5. Remove the nuts and the steering column. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column .
  6. Remove the electrical wiring harness strip.
  7. Disconnect the brake switch connector (5).
  8. Disconnect the thermostat connector (4).
  9. Disconnect the blow motor connector (2).
  10. Disconnect the blow motor resistance connector (3).
  11. Disconnect the electrical wiring harness (1).

  12. Remove the screws (2) from the defroster duct.
  13. Remove the defroster duct (1) from the upper air inlet grille panel.

    14. Object Number: 1221197 Size: SH
  14. Remove the bolts and the tie-bar (1).

    15. Object Number: 1221199 Size: SH
  15. Remove the bolts and the tie-bar center (1).

Installation Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1221201 Size: SH
  1. Install the tie-bar with the bolts.
  2. Install the tie-bar center with the bolts.
  3. Install the defroster duct to the upper air inlet grille panel with the screws.
  4. Connect the electrical wiring harness.
  5. Connect the blow motor resistance connector.
  6. Connect the blow motor connector.
  7. Connect the thermostat connector.
  8. Connect the brake switch connector.
  9. Bind the electrical wiring harness strip.
  10. Install the steering column with the nuts. Refer to Steering Column Replacement in Steering Wheel and Column.
  11. Install the defroster duct hose with the screws.
  12. Install the instrument panel assembly. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement .
  13. Connect the negative battery cable.
