Removal Procedure

    Caution: Refer to Battery Disconnect Caution in the Preface section.


    Object Number: 1230454 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the negative battery cable.
  2. Remove the strut bar from the vehicle. Refer to Strut Bar Replacement in Front Suspension.
  3. Remove the coolant reservoir. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  4. Loosen the brake pipe fittings (1).

  5. Seal the openings of the brake pipes and the hydraulic modulator to prevent the contamination and the leaks.
  6. Disconnect the EBCM connector (1).
  7. Disconnect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector (2).

  8. Disconnect the electrical connector from the connector holder (1).

  9. Loosen the upper mounting bracket nuts (1).
  10. Remove the hydraulic modulator by separating the hydraulic modulator from the lower bracket.

  11. Remove the bolt and the upper mounting bracket (1).

  12. Remove the nuts and the lower mounting bracket (1).

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the lower mounting bracket with the nuts (1, 2).

    2. Tighten

    • Tighten the lower mounting bracket-to-fender nuts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
    • Tighten the lower mounting bracket-to-dash panel nut to 12 N·m (106 lb in).

  2. Install the upper mounting bracket with the bolt (1).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 13 N·m (11.5 lb in).

  3. Install the hydraulic modulator to the lower bracket.
  4. Install the upper mounting bracket nuts (1).

    5. Tighten
    Tighten the upper mounting bracket nuts to 16 N·m (12 lb in).

  5. Connect the electrical connector to the connector holder.

    6. Object Number: 1230463 Size: SH
  6. Connect the wheel speed sensor electrical connector.
  7. Connect the EBCM connector.
  8. Install the brake pipes to the hydraulic modulator with the fittings (1).

    9. Tighten
    Tighten the brake pipe fittings to 16 N·m (12 lb ft).

  9. Install the coolant reservoir. Refer to Radiator Surge Tank Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  10. Install the strut bar. Refer to Strut Bar Replacement in Front Suspension.
  11. Connect the negative battery cable.
