Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 1223485 Size: SH
  1. Disconnect the heater hoses from the heater module. Refer to Heater Hose Assembly Replacement .
  2. Remove the instrument panel and the lower tie bar center. Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages, and Console.
  3. Remove the heater module-to-blower module connection tube (1) on the vehicle not equipped with A/C.

  4. Remove the evaporator on the vehicle equipped with A/C. Refer to Evaporator Core and Drain Hose Replacement .

    5. Object Number: 1223488 Size: SH
  5. Remove the upper nuts (1).

    6. Object Number: 1223489 Size: SH
  6. Remove the lower nuts (1).
  7. Remove the heater module (2).

Installation Procedure

    Notice: Refer to Fastener Notice in the Preface section.

  1. Install the heater module with the nuts.
  2. Install heater module lower nuts (1).

    3. Tighten
    Tighten the heater module lower nuts to 3-5 N·m (27-44 lb in).

  3. Install heater module upper nuts.

    4. Tighten
    Tighten the heater module upper nuts to 3-5 N·m (27-44 lb in).

  4. Install the evaporator on the vehicle equipped with A/C. Refer to Evaporator Core and Drain Hose Replacement .
  5. Install the heater module-to-blower module connection tube on the vehicle not equipped with A/C with the screw.
  6. Install the instrument panel and the lower tie bar (2). Refer to Instrument Panel Assembly Replacement in Instrument Panel, Gages and Console.
  7. Connect the heater hoses to the heater module. Refer to Heater Hose Assembly Replacement .
