Exhaust Pipe Replacement - Right Side 6.6 L
Removal Procedure
- Remove the exhaust outlet.
Refer to
Exhaust Outlet Replacement
in Engine Exhaust.
The exhaust outlet does not require removal from the vehicle. Move the
exhaust outlet to the side in order to access the right exhaust pipe.
- Remove the 3 bolts (1) from exhaust pipe to the
exhaust manifold.
- Remove the 3 bolts (2) from the exhaust
pipe to the turbocharger.
- Remove the right exhaust pipe and gaskets.
- Clean the exhaust pipe.
- Clean the exhaust pipe mating surfaces.
- Inspect the exhaust pipe for dents and cracks.
- Replace the exhaust pipe if any damage is found.
Installation Procedure
- Install the right exhaust
pipe with NEW gasket to the turbocharger. Align the tab on the gasket to
face inward as shown.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the exhaust
pipe to turbocharger bolts (2).
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust pipe to turbocharger bolts to 53 N·m
(39 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust pipe to the exhaust manifold with a NEW gasket.
Align the tab on the gasket to face outward as shown.
- Install the exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold bolts (1).
Tighten
Tighten the exhaust pipe to exhaust manifold bolts to 53 N·m
(39 lb ft).
- Install the exhaust outlet. Refer to
Exhaust Outlet Replacement
in Engine Exhaust.
