Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 491499  Size: SH
  1. Discharge and recover the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  2. Remove the bolt (1) from the expansion valve.
  3. Slide the plate (2) counterclockwise and remove the evaporator inlet and outlet tubes from the expansion valve.

  4. Object Number: 467896  Size: SH
  5. Remove the 2 bolts from the expansion valve.
  6. Remove the expansion valve from the evaporator.
  7. Remove and discard the O-rings.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 467896  Size: SH
  1. Install new O-rings coated with mineral base 525 viscosity refrigerant oil to the evaporator.
  2. Install the expansion valve to the evaporator.
  3. Install the 2 bolts to the expansion valve.

  4. Object Number: 491499  Size: SH
  5. Install the evaporator inlet and outlet tubes to the expansion valve.
  6. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  7. Slide the plate (2) clockwise and install the bolt.
  8. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 35 N·m (26 lb ft).

  9. Evacuate and recharge the refrigerant. Refer to Refrigerant Recovery and Recharging .
  10. Operate the A/C system. Inspect for refrigerant leaks. Refer to Leak Testing .
