Preliminary Procedures

1. Remove the rear wiper arm. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Arm Replacement .
2. Remove the rear washer nozzle. Refer to Rear Window Washer Nozzle Replacement .
3. Remove the center high mounted stop lamp. Refer to High Mount Stop Lamp Replacement .
4. Remove the liftgate pull strap. Refer to Liftgate Pull Strap Replacement .
5. Remove the liftgate trim panel. Refer to Liftgate Trim Panel Replacement .
6. Remove the liftgate wiring harness. Refer to Liftgate Wiring Harness Replacement .
7. Remove the rear liftgate speakers. Refer to Radio Rear Speaker Replacement .
8. Remove the rear wiper motor. Refer to Rear Window Wiper Motor Replacement .
9. Place protective coverings over adjacent body panels.
10. With a grease pencil, mark the location of the liftgate hinge to the liftgate.
11. Disengage the assist rod upper mounting clips from the liftgate. Refer to Liftgate Strut Replacement .

Tighten
25 N·m (18 lb ft)

Lift Gate Assembly

Tip

1. With the aid of an assistant, remove the liftgate and place on a clean, dry surface.
2. Transfer parts as necessary.
