Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the accessory drive belt from the pump. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.4L.

  2. Object Number: 417974  Size: SH
  3. Remove the pressure hose from the pump.

  4. Object Number: 417981  Size: SH
  5. Remove the return hose from the pump.

  6. Object Number: 281721  Size: SH
  7. Remove the bolts from the pump.
  8. Remove the power steering pump from the vehicle.
  9. Remove the power steering pump pulley from the pump. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .
  10. Remove the reservoir from the pump.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the reservoir to the pump.
  2. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement .

  3. Object Number: 281721  Size: SH
  4. Install the pump to the vehicle.
  5. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  6. Install the power steering pump bolts.
  7. Tighten
    Tighten the power steering pump bolts to 34 N·m (25 lb ft).

  8. Install the return hose to the pump. Refer to Power Steering Return Hose Replacement .

  9. Object Number: 417974  Size: SH
  10. Install the pressure hose to the pump. Refer to Power Steering Pressure Pipe/Hose Replacement .
  11. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement in Engine Mechanical - 3.4L.
  12. Fill the power steering system. Refer to Checking and Adding Power Steering Fluid .
  13. Bleed the power steering system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding .
  14. Inspect the system for leaks. Refer to Power Steering System Test .
