Verify that the midgate ajar indicator is malfunctioning.

Does the midgate ajar indicator operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections

Is the midgate ajar indicator inoperative?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Disconnect the right midgate latch electrical connector.

Does the midgate ajar indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 13

  1. Connect the right midgate latch electrical connector.
  2. Disconnect the left midgate latch electrical connector.

Does the midgate ajar indicator illuminate?

Go to Step 10

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between pin B of the right midgate latch and a good ground.

Does the midgate ajar indicator go out?

  1. Disconnect the right midgate latch electrical connector.
  2. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the midgate ajar switch signal circuit of the right midgate latch electrical connector and a good ground.

Does the midgate ajar indicator go out?

  1. Connect the right midgate latch electrical connector.
  2. Disconnect the left midgate latch electrical connector.
  3. Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between pin B of the left midgate latch and a good ground.

Connect a 3-amp fused jumper wire between the midgate ajar indicator signal circuit of the left midgate latch electrical connector and a good ground.
