Schematic Reference: Video System Schematics

DEFINITION: The following conditions occur:

    • The video display does not turn on. The power indicator is off and the screen backlighting is off.
    • The DVD player does not turn on. The power indicator next to DVD power button is off.

Did you review the rear entertainment system operation and perform the necessary inspection?

Go to Step 2

Go to Symptoms - Entertainment

  1. Turn ON the ignition.
  2. Lower the screen of the video display.
  3. Press the power button on the DVD player. The amber indicator on the DVD player button turns ON.

Does the system operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disconnect the rear entertainment system connector.
  2. Test the ground circuit of the rear entertainment system for an open. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Did you find and correct the condition?

Go to Step 7

Test the ignition 1 voltage circuit of the rear entertainment system for an open or short to ground. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the harness connector of the rear video entertainment system. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the rear video entertainment system. Refer to Video Display Replacement .
