Brake Caliper Mounting Plate Replacement Rear, Bendix Rail Slider

Removal Procedure

    Object Number: 209279 Size: SH
  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Block the wheels.
  3. Remove the brake caliper (5). Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
  4. Remove the brake rotor (with the hub, or with the wheel). Refer to Oil Seal and/or Bearing Replacement in Driveline Axle.
  5. Remove the bolts and washers.
  6. Remove the brake caliper mounting plate (1) from the rear axle.

Inspection Procedure

  1. Inspect the support rails for rust, corrosion, and wear.
  2. Clean the support rails with a wire brush.
  3. Inspect the brake caliper mounting plate for cracks or elongated bolt holes.
  4. Replace the mounting plate if necessary (1).

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the brake caliper mounting plate (1) to the rear axle.

    2. Important: Ensure that the threads are clean and greaseless before applying threadlocker.

  2. Apply 272 Threadlocker GM P/N 12345493, or the equivalent, to the threads of each brake caliper mounting plate bolt.

    3. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts and washers.

    4. Tighten

        • Tighten the brake shield bolts to 32 N·m (24 lb ft).
        • Tighten the brake caliper mounting plate bolts to 220 N·m (162 lb ft).
  4. Install the brake rotor (with the hub, or with the wheel). Refer to Oil Seal and/or Bearing Replacement in Driveline Axle.
  5. Install the brake caliper (5). Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
  6. Remove the blocks.

Brake Caliper Mounting Plate Replacement Front, Bendix

Removal Procedure

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Block the wheels.
  3. Raise the vehicle Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  4. Remove the brake caliper (5). Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
  5. Remove the brake rotor (with the hub, or with the wheel). Refer to Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement in Front Suspension.
  6. Remove the bolts and washers.
  7. Remove the brake caliper mounting plate (4).

  5. Install the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
  6. Lower the vehicle. Refer to Lifting and Jacking the Vehicle in General Information.
  7. Remove the blocks.

Brake Caliper Mounting Plate Replacement Front, Dayton-Walther

Removal Procedure

  1. Apply the parking brake.
  2. Block the wheels.

Removal Procedure

  4. Remove the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement .
  5. Remove the brake rotor (with the hub, or with the wheel). Refer to Oil Seal and/or Bearing Replacement in Rear Axle.
  6. Remove the bolts and washers.
  7. Remove the brake caliper mounting plate from the rear axle.

Inspection Procedure
  1. Inspect the brake caliper mounting plate for cracks or elongated bolt holes.
  2. Replace the mounting plate if necessary.
