Action

Air in the system

Add power steering fluid to the power steering reservoir, if necessary. Bleed the system. Refer to Power Steering System Bleeding

or Power Steering System Bleeding

The steering gear mounting is loose

Replace the attaching bolts and torque to the specification. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications

Worn steering linkage joints

Replace any loose parts.

Worn or misadjusted front wheel bearings

Adjust or replace the bearings.

Worn or damaged steering gear

Disassemble the steering gear. Repair the steering gear. Refer to Integral Steering Gear Disassemble

Improperly mounted steering gear

Replace the steering gear mounting hardware and torque to specifications. Refer to Fastener Tightening Specifications

worn or missing poppet valve (TRW Ross power steering gear)

Replace the poppet valve.
