Important: The seal lip must face toward the transmission.
The seal must not be cocked or distorted.
- Install a new seal using the J 22834-A
.
Coat the seal lip with transmission oil.
- Install a new gasket and
bearing cover (2).
Align the oil passages in the rear bearing cover and the transmission
case.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws
(4) or nuts (1) to the rear bearing cover.
Tighten
Tighten the screws or nuts to 33 N·m (24 lb ft).
- Install the companion flange or yoke.
- Install the flange or
yoke nut. Use the J 3453
or the J 8614-01
(1)
in order to hold the yoke, as required.
Tighten
Tighten the flange or yoke nut to 441 N·m (325 lb ft).
- Install the speed sensor harness.
- Install the parking brake to the transmission. Refer to
