Removal Procedure
- Remove the upper intake manifold sight shield using the following procedure:
- Remove the air cleaner intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .
- Remove glow plus relax assembly. Refer to Glow Plug Relay Replacement .
- Remove PCV valve hose.
- Remove the 3 bolts connecting the air intake pipe to the turbocharger.
- Remove the air intake pipe (1) from the turbocharger (3).
| 1.1. | Remove the retaining bolt in the front of the shield. |
| 1.2. | Lift up on the front of the shield. |
| 1.3. | Lift the shield off the rear bracket. |
Installation Procedure
- Clean the mating surfaces on the air intake pipe (1) and the turbocharger (3).
- Install the air intake pipe on the turbocharger.
- Install the 3 air intake pipe mounting bolts.
- Install air intake duct. Refer to Air Cleaner Inlet Duct Replacement .
- Install PCV valve hose.
- Install glow plug relay assembly. Refer to Glow Plug Relay Replacement .
- Install the upper intake manifold sight shield.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
Tighten
Tighten the air intake pipe bolts to 10 N·m (89 lb in).
Tighten
Tighten the upper intake manifold sight shield bolt to 9 N·m
(80 lb in).
