Test Description

The numbers below refers to the step numbers on the diagnostic table.

  1. The passenger power window switch on the master switch, shares a common ground circuit with the left front window. If the passenger power window operates properly from the master switch the ground circuit can be presumed good.

Did you perform the Door Systems Diagnostic System Check?

  1. Turn ON the ignition, with the engine OFF.
  2. Operate the driver power window from the master switch.

Does the driver power window operate normally?

Go to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections in Wiring Systems

Go to Step 3

  1. Disable the window lockout function (if equipped).
  2. Operate the passenger window(s) from the master switch.

Do the passenger window(s) operate normally?

Go to Step 4

  1. Disconnect the power window master switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the RAP fuse supply voltage circuit at the master switch connector and a good ground.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

Go to Step 5

  1. Connect the power window master switch.
  2. Disconnect the driver power window motor.
  3. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor left front up circuit at the power window motor connector and a good ground.
  4. Operate the driver power window in the up direction.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor left front down circuit at the power window motor connector and a good ground.
  2. Operate the driver power window in the down direction.

Does the test lamp illuminate?

  1. Connect a test lamp between the power window motor left front up and down circuits at the power window motor connector.
  2. Operate the left front power window in the up and down directions.

Does the test lamp illuminate in both directions?

Go to Step 11

Test the power window left front up circuit for a short to ground, open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Test the power window left front down circuit for a short to ground, open or high resistance. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the power window master switch harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Inspect for poor connections at the power window motor harness connector. Refer to Testing for Intermittent Conditions and Poor Connections and Connector Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the power window master switch. Refer to Front Side Door Window Switch Replacement .

Locate and repair a loose connection or an open in the left power window switch ground circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Replace the left front power window motor. Refer to Front Side Door Window Regulator Motor Replacement .

Locate and repair a loose connection, open or short to ground in the fused RAP relay output circuit. Refer to Circuit Testing and Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
