1. Remove the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Replacement .
2. Use a suitable prying tool in order to remove the crankshaft front oil seal.
3. Inspect the engine front cover seal bore for damage.
4. Inspect the crankshaft balancer sealing surface for damage. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Clean and Inspect .

Tools Required

J 35468 Crankshaft Seal Installer and Centering Tool

1. Verify that the pre-applied grease on the crankshaft front oil seal is intact.



2. Use the J 35468 in order to install the engine front cover oil seal.
3. Inspect the seal in order to ensure that the crankshaft front oil seal is flush and square to the engine front cover.

Install the crankshaft balancer. Refer to Crankshaft Balancer Installation .
