  1. Disconnect the fan control relay. Refer to Cooling System Components .
  2. Connect a test light from the fan control relay connector, cavity 30 to ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 2 (RED) between the fusible link and the fan control relay connector.

Is the repair complete?

--

System OK

  1. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  2. Connect a test light from the fan control relay connector, cavity 85 to ground.
  3. Observe the test light.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

Did the test light illuminate?

--

Locate and repair the open in CKT 539 (PNK) between the ENG-I fuse and the fan control relay connector.

Is the repair complete?

Connect a fused jumper wire from cavity 30 to cavity 87 of the fan control relay connector. Refer to Using Fused Jumper Wires in Wiring Systems.

Does the auxiliary engine coolant fan motor operate?

  1. Ensure that the fused jumper wire is still connected.
  2. Disconnect the auxiliary engine coolant fan motor. Refer to Cooling System Components .
  3. Connect a test light from the auxiliary engine coolant fan motor connector, cavity A to ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 702 (RED) between the fan control relay connector and the auxiliary engine coolant fan motor connector.

Is the repair complete?

Connect a test light from the auxiliary engine coolant fan motor connector, cavity B to B +.

Locate and repair the open in CKT 250 (BLK) between the connector and G 200.

  1. Disconnect the auxiliary engine coolant fan temperature switch, located in the thermostat housing crossover. Refer to Cooling System Components .
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Connect a test light from the temperature switch connector on the auxiliary engine coolant fan, cavity A to ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Disconnect the refrigerant pressure switch on the auxiliary engine coolant fan. Refer to Cooling System Components .
  2. Turn the ignition to the RUN position.
  3. Connect a test light from the refrigerant pressure switch connector on the auxiliary fan control connector, cavity B to ground.

Does the test light illuminate?

Repair the open in CKT 702 (RED) between the fan control relay connector and the auxiliary engine coolant fan motor connector.

  1. Remove the fused jumper wire.
  2. Connect a test light from the auxiliary engine coolant fan motor connector, cavity A to B +.

Does the test light illuminate?

  1. Remove the fused jumper wire.

  3. Connect a test light from the fan control relay connector, cavity 85 and ground.
  4. Observe the test light.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Connect a test light from the refrigerant pressure switch connector on the auxiliary engine coolant fan, cavity B to ground.

  2. Connect a test light from the fan control relay connector, cavity 85 to ground.

Locate and repair the open in CKT 540 (ORN) between the ENG -BAT fuse and the fan control relay connector.

  3. Connect a test light from the auxiliary engine coolant fan motor connector, cavity B to ground.

  1. Reconnect the fan control relay.
  2. Disconnect the vehicle control module (VCM) connectors C 3 and C 4.
  3. Connect a test light from the VCM connector C 4, cavity 9 to ground. Refer to Using Connector Test Adapters in Wiring Systems.
  4. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.

Does the test light illuminate?

Inspect CKT 473 (DK BLU) for an open condition.

Locate and repair the open in CKT 473 (DK BLU) between the VCM connector C 4 and the fan control relay connector.

Is the repair complete?

  1. Connect a fused jumper wire from the VCM connector C 4, cavity 9 to ground. Refer to Using Connector Test Adapters in Wiring Systems.
  2. Observe the auxiliary engine coolant fan motor, or listen for fan motor operation.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.

Did the auxiliary engine coolant fan motor operate?

  1. Disconnect the refrigerant pressure switch from the auxiliary engine coolant fan.
  2. Connect a J 39200 DMM from the auxiliary engine coolant fan refrigerant pressure switch connector, cavity B to the VCM connector C 3, cavity 14.
  3. Measure the resistance.

Is the resistance greater than the specified value?

1.0 ohms

Locate and repair the open in CKT 604 (DK BLU) between the refrigerant pressure switch connector on the auxiliary engine coolant fan and the VCM connector C 3.

Is the repair complete?

Connect a test light from the refrigerant pressure switch connector on the auxiliary engine coolant fan, cavity A to B +.

Does the test light illuminate?

Locate and repair the open in CKT 250 (BLK) between the refrigerant pressure switch connector on the auxiliary engine coolant fan and G 200.

  1. Reconnect the VCM connectors, C 3 and C 4.
  2. Connect a fused jumper wire at the refrigerant pressure switch connector on the auxiliary engine coolant fan from cavity B to cavity A.
  3. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  4. Observe the auxiliary engine coolant fan motor, or listen for fan motor operation.
  5. Turn the ignition switch to the OFF position.
