Did you perform the Cruise Control Module System Check?

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector at the cruise control module.
  2. Turn the ignition switch to the RUN position.
  3. Connect a test lamp between cruise connector cavity D of CKT 379 (BRN/WHT) and ground.
  4. Depress the brake pedal.

Does the lamp remain lit?

  1. Connect a test lamp from CKT 1320 (LT BLU) cavity G to ground.
  2. Depress the brake pedal.

Does the test lamp light?

--

Go to Step 9

  1. Disconnect the electrical connector at the stoplamp switch.
  2. Connect a test lamp between the stoplamp switch connector cavity C CKT 420 (PPL) and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Go to Step 5

Locate and repair the short to the voltage between the stoplamp switch and the cruise control module. Refer to Wiring Repairs

Is the repair complete?

Adjust or replace the stoplamp switch. Refer to Stop Lamp Switch Replacement

Does the CHMSL operate properly?

Go to Stop Lamps Inoperative - Center High Mounted

Locate and repair the open circuit or high resistance in CKT 1320 (LT BLU) between the cruise control module connector and underhood fuse block connector C1 terminal F11. Refer to Wiring Repairs

Is the repair complete?

Inspect the terminals for proper contact.

Are the contacts clean?

Go to Step 11

Clean the contacts as necessary. Refer to Intermittents and Poor Connections Diagnosis
