Disassembly Procedure


    Object Number: 429942  Size: SH
  1. Drain the power steering fluid from the power steering pump.
  2. Remove the pump mounting studs (2).
  3. Remove the connector and fitting assembly (4).
  4. Remove the O-ring seal (3) from the connector and fitting assembly (4).
  5. If replacement is required, remove the control valve assembly and the flow control spring from the pump housing assembly; refer to Power Steering Pump Flow Control Valve Replacement - Off Vehicle .

  6. Object Number: 429946  Size: SH
  7. Remove the reservoir assembly (1) from the pump housing assembly (2).

  8. Object Number: 404947  Size: SH
  9. Remove the O-ring seals (1) (4).
  10. Remove the magnet (3).
  11. Clean the magnet (3).
  12. Inspect the welch plug in the power steering pump housing (2). Do not remove. If the welch plug is deformed or dislodged, replace the power steering pump housing (2).

Assembly Procedure


    Object Number: 404947  Size: SH

    Important: Use new O-ring seals when assembling the power steering pump assembly.

  1. Lubricate the O-ring seals (1) (4) with power steering fluid.
  2. To install the control valve assembly and flow control spring to the pump housing assembly (2); refer to Power Steering Pump Flow Control Valve Replacement - Off Vehicle
  3. Install the O-ring seals (1) (4) to the pump housing assembly (2).
  4. Install the magnet (3) to the pump housing assembly (2).

  5. Object Number: 429946  Size: SH
  6. Connect the reservoir assembly (1) to the pump housing assembly (2).
  7. Install the O-ring seal.

  8. Object Number: 429942  Size: SH
  9. Install the connector and fitting assembly (4) to the pump housing (1).
  10. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  11. Install the pump mounting studs (2) to the pump housing (1).
  12. Tighten
    Tighten the pump mounting studs (2) to 58 N·m (43 lb ft).

    Tighten
    Tighten the connector and fitting assembly (4) to 75 N·m (55 lb ft).
