Seat Back Hinge Replacement YC5 and YC6

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the seat from the seat riser. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement or Seat Replacement - Power with Adjuster .
  2. Remove the seat cover J-clips from the seat cushion frame:
  3. 2.1. Remove the J-clip at the rear of the seat.

    Remove the J-clip on the side of the seat containing the seat back hinge.

    2.2. Remove the J-clip retaining the cover to the carpet on the back of the seat on the side of the seat containing the hinge.

    Important: Note the position and length of all the bolts removed. This will assist with reassembly.

  4. Remove the bolts retaining the hinge to the seat cushion frame.
  5. Remove the armrests, if equipped. Refer to Armrest Replacement .
  6. Lift the seat back cover and pad above the bolts retaining the hinge to the seat back frame.
  7. Important: Note the position and length of all the bolts removed. This will assist with reassembly.

  8. Remove the bolts retaining the hinge to the seat back frame.
  9. Important: Handle the seat carefully when just one side of the seat back is attached to the seat cushion. Improper handling may damage the seat back hinge or the lumbar support cable.

  10. Remove the hinge from the seat.

Installation Procedure

  1. Install the hinge to the seat.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the bolts retaining the hinge to the seat back frame.
  4. Install the bolts in the locations noted during disassembly.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  5. Install the armrests, if equipped.
  6. Install the bolts retaining the hinge to the seat cushion frame.
  7. Install the bolts in the locations from which they were removed, as noted during disassembly.

    Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 30 N·m (22 lb ft).

  8. Install the seat cushion J-clips to the seat cushion frame as follows:
  9. 5.1. Install the J-clip retaining the seat cover to the carpet on the back of the seat on the side of the seat containing the recliner.
    5.2. Install the J-clip to the seat frame on the side of the seat containing the hinge.
    5.3. Install the J-clip at the rear of the seat.
  10. Install the seat to the riser. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement , or Seat Replacement - Power with Adjuster .

Seat Back Hinge Replacement YC7

Removal Procedure

  1. Remove the seat from the seat riser. Refer to Bucket Seat Replacement or Seat Replacement - Power with Adjuster .
  2. Remove the armrest from the same side of the seat as the hinge. Refer to Armrest Replacement .
  3. Remove the J-hooks retaining the carpet on the back of the seat cushion to the corners of the seat cushion trim cover.

  4. Object Number: 300213  Size: SH

    Important: Note the position and length of all the bolts removed. This will assist with reassembly.

  5. Remove the bolts retaining the hinge to the seat cushion and the seat back frames.
  6. Important: Handle the seat carefully when just one side of the seat back is attached to the seat cushion. Improper handling may damage the seat back hinge or the lumbar support cable.

  7. Remove the hinge from the seat.

  1. Install the hinge to the seat.

  2. Object Number: 300213  Size: SH
