Removal Procedure

Tools Required

J 9746-02 Wheel Bearing Remover

  1. Raise the vehicle. Support the vehicle with safety stands.
  2. Remove the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  3. Notice: Support the caliper with a piece of wire to prevent damage to the brake line.

  4. Remove the front brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  5. Remove the hub/rotor. Refer to Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement in Front Suspension.

  6. Object Number: 1819  Size: SH
  7. Remove the wheel stud using a press.
  8. • Support the hub/rotor using the J 9746-02 and the press bars.
    • Do not damage the wheel mounting surface on the hub/rotor flange.

Installation Procedure


    Object Number: 179465  Size: SH
  1. Install the wheel hub stud into the hub/rotor.
  2. Place four washers and a nut on the stud.
  3. Tighten until the stud is fully seated in the hub/rotor.
  4. Install the hub/rotor. Refer to Front Wheel Hub, Bearing, and Seal Replacement in Front Suspension.
  5. Adjust the wheel bearings. Refer to Wheel Bearing Adjustment in Front Suspension.
  6. Install the brake caliper. Refer to Brake Caliper Replacement in Disc Brakes.
  7. Install the tire and wheel assembly. Refer to Tire and Wheel Removal and Installation in Tires and Wheels.
  8. Remove the safety stands.
  9. Lower the vehicle.
