  1. Verify that no diagnostic trouble codes (DTC's) are set which would impact the cruise control operations.
  2. Disconnect the connector at the cruise control module.
  3. Place the ignition switch in the RUN position.
  4. Connect an unpowered test lamp between the cruise control module connector cavity F CKT 41 (BRN) and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Repair the open in CKT 41 (BRN) between the instrument panel (IP) fuse block and the cruise control module.

Is the cruise control still inoperative?

Is continuity present?

  2. Connect an unpowered test lamp between the cruise control module connector cavity A for CKT 397 (GRY) and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

  2. Connect an unpowered test lamp between connector C200 pin A13 for CKT 41 (BRN) and ground.

  2. Connect an unpowered test lamp between the cruise control module connector cavity B for CKT 84 (DK BLU) and ground.

Does the test lamp light?

Repair the short to voltage in CKT 84 (DK BLU) between the cruise control switch and the cruise control module.

Is the cruise control still inoperative?

  2. Connect an unpowered test lamp between the cruise control module connector cavity B for CKT 84 (DK BLU) and ground.
  3. Depress the SET/COAST push-button.

Does the test lamp light?

  2. Connect a J 39200 between the cruise control module connector cavity B and connector C200 pin A14 for CKT 84 (DK BLU).

  1. Disconnect the connector at the torque convertor clutch (TCC)/stoplamp switch.
  2. Connect a J 39200 at the TCC/stoplamp switch between pin E and pin F.

Is continuity present?

  1. Ensure that the contacts in the TCC/stoplamp switch are open without the brake pedal depressed.

  2. Connect a voltmeter between the cruise control module connector cavity K for CKT 817 (DK GRN/WHT) and ground.

    • The cruise control module
    • The radio
    • The VCM

  1. Reconnect connector C4 at the VCM.
  2. Prepare to operate the vehicle at speed.
  3. Leave the cruise control module connector disconnected.
  4. Connect a voltmeter between the cruise control module connector cavity K for CKT 817 (DK GRN/WHT) and ground.
  5. Operate the vehicle at speed.
  6. Observe the voltage between the range depending upon the speed.
  7. Ensure that the radio is OFF.

Does the voltmeter indicate the voltage in the range as a function of speed?

0-5 volts
