Preliminary Inspection

Before you begin a diagnosis, visually inspect for the following conditions and repair as necessary:

    • Verify that the fuse is not blown. Refer to the appropriate diagnostic procedure.
    • Verify that the electrical system has no bare, broken or disconnected wires.
    • Verify that the cruise control cable is not binding.
    • Verify that the cruise control cable is adjusted properly.
    • Verify that the stoplamp switch is not damaged.
    • Verify that the stoplamp switch is positioned properly.

  1. Drive the vehicle at a speed greater than 25 MPH.
  2. Move the cruise control switch to the ON position.
  3. Press and hold the SET/COAST switch for 2 seconds.

The cruise control engages and maintains the desired speed.

Press and hold the SET/COAST switch.

    • The vehicle decelerates when the switch is pressed.
    • When the switch is released, the vehicle maintains the speed at which the switch was released.

  1. Depress the brake pedal.
  2. Press and release the RESUME switch.
    • The cruise control disengages. The vehicle decelerates.
    • The cruise control re-engages. The vehicle returns to the previously set speed.

TAP-UP

Press the RESUME/ACCEL switch for 1 second and release.

The vehicle accelerates in 1 MPH increments for each tap of the switch.

TAP-DOWN

Press the SET/COAST switch for 1 second and release.

The vehicle decelerates in 1 MPH increments for each tap of the switch.
