Attempt to operate the power seats forward/rearward.

Does the system operate normally?

  1. Disconnect power seat switch connector from the power seat switch.
  2. Connect one end of a J 36169-A fused jumper to B+ and the other end to the power seat switch connector pin D for CKT 284 (LT GRN).
  3. Connect a second J 36169-A fused jumper wire from power seat switch connector pin C for CKT 150 (BLK) to a known good ground.
  4. Move the first jumper wire to pin E for CKT 285 (TAN).

Does the forward/rearward motor move forward/rearward when activated with the jumper wires?

Replace the power seat switch. Refer to Power Seat Switch Replacement .

  1. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter between the power seat switch connector pin D for CKT 284 (LT GRN) and pin E for CKT 285 (TAN).
  2. Test for continuity. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is continuity present?

Replace the power seat motor. Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Motor Replacement .

  1. Connect a J 39200 digital multimeter between the power seat motor connector cavity C for CKT 284 (RED) and cavity D for CKT 285 (RED).
  2. Test for continuity. Refer to Circuit Testing in Wiring Systems.

Is continuity present?

Repair the open in CKT 284 (RED) or CKT 285 (RED) between the power seat switch connector and the power seat motor connector. Refer to Wiring Repairs in Wiring Systems.

Is the repair complete?

Replace the power seat motor(s). Refer to Front Seat Adjuster Motor Replacement .

Operate the system in order to verify the repair.
