Accessory Mounting Brackets Replacement Left

Tools Required

J 41240 Fan Clutch Remover and Installer

Removal Procedure


    Object Number: 179249  Size: SH
  1. Use J 41240 to remove the engine cooling fan. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  2. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  3. Important: Do not evacuate the air conditioning system.

  4. Remove the mounting bolts for the air conditioning compressor, if equipped. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  5. Move the air conditioning compressor aside and support.
  6. Remove the drive belt idler pulley if not equipped with A/C. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .
  7. Remove the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement in Power Steering.

  9. Remove the three bolts holding the power steering pump to the accessory mounting bracket.

  10. Object Number: 188295  Size: SH
  11. Remove the three bolts and nut holding the power steering pump bracket to the engine.
  12. Slide the power steering pump bracket off the stud and power steering pump.

Installation Procedure

  1. Slide the power steering pump bracket on the stud and the power steering pump.
  2. Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified. These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.

  3. Install the three bolts and the nut.
  4. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts and nut to 41 N·m (30 lb ft).

  5. Install the three bolts for the power steering pump.
  6. Tighten
    Tighten the bolts to 50 N·m (37 lb ft).

  7. Install the power steering pump pulley. Refer to Power Steering Pump Pulley Replacement in Power Steering.
  8. Install the air conditioning compressor, if equipped. Refer to Air Conditioning Compressor Replacement in Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning.
  9. Install the drive belt idler pulley if not equipped with A/C. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .
  10. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  11. Install the engine cooling fan. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Engine Cooling.

Removal Procedure

  1. Disconnect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in engine electrical.
  2. Remove the engine cooling fan. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Engine Cooling.
  3. Remove the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  4. Remove the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  5. Remove the wire harness bracket from the generator and drive belt tensioner bracket.
  6. Remove the belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .
  7. Remove the belt idler pulley. Refer to Drive Belt Idler Pulley Replacement .

  8. Object Number: 196643  Size: SH
  9. Remove the three bolts and nut holding the generator and drive belt tensioner bracket to the engine.
  10. Slide the generator and drive belt tensioner bracket off of the stud.

Installation Procedure

  1. Slide the generator and drive belt tensioner bracket on the stud.

  6. Install the drive belt tensioner. Refer to Drive Belt Tensioner Replacement .

  8. Install the wire harness bracket to the generator and drive belt tensioner bracket.
  9. Tighten
    Tighten the bolt to 20 N·m (15 lb ft).

  10. Install the generator. Refer to Generator Replacement in Engine Electrical.
  11. Install the drive belt. Refer to Drive Belt Replacement .
  12. Connect the battery negative cable. Refer to Battery Negative Cable Disconnection and Connection in Engine Electrical.
  13. Install the engine cooling fan. Refer to Fan Clutch Replacement in Engine Cooling.
