Removal Procedure
- Remove the screws (4) that retain the side front door assist handle
(3) to the door.
- Remove the inside handle bezel. Refer to
Door Inside Handle Bezel Replacement
.
- Remove the side front door trim plate. Refer to
Door Trim Plate Replacement
.
- Gently pull out the trim panel at the top of the window opening.
Using a long, narrow screwdriver, pry the retaining clips apart in order to
disengage the clips.
- Lift the side front door trim panel (1) up.
- Remove the side front door trim panel (1) from the door.
- Remove the side front door trim panel (1) from the vehicle.
- Inspect the side front door trim panel (1) for broken or missing
retaining clips (2). Replace any retaining clips as needed.
Installation Procedure
- Align the retaining tabs (2) on the side front door trim panel (1) with
the slots on the door. Lower the side front door trim panel (1) into place.
- Press on the top of the side front door trim panel (1) in order
to engage the retaining clips (2).
- Install the side front door trim plate. Refer to

- Install the inside handle bezel. Refer to
Door Inside Handle Bezel Replacement
.
- Install the side front door assist handle (3) to the door.
Notice: Use the correct fastener in the correct location. Replacement fasteners
must be the correct part number for that application. Fasteners requiring
replacement or fasteners requiring the use of thread locking compound or sealant
are identified in the service procedure. Do not use paints, lubricants, or
corrosion inhibitors on fasteners or fastener joint surfaces unless specified.
These coatings affect fastener torque and joint clamping force and may damage
the fastener. Use the correct tightening sequence and specifications when
installing fasteners in order to avoid damage to parts and systems.
- Install the screws
(4) in order to retain the side front door assist handle (3) to the door.
Tighten
Tighten the screws that retain the front door assist handle
to 1.9 N·m (17 lb in)
